Spotlight on ELSO Tutors: Adele Woodmansee

Adele is a PhD candidate in Soil and Crop Sciences and has been a Writing and Presenting tutor for ELSO since September 2024. Her research is interdisciplinary and she is experienced with writing in both the social and natural sciences. She has experience working with students on application materials, class assignments, and research related materials, and she particularly likes to work on research articles and grant proposals. She can work with you to structure your writing, including reorganizing your ideas to present a compelling narrative. She also enjoys working on sentence level flow, and she can help you strategize about how to shorten statements to reach word limits.

Adele’s dissertation research is based in the High Atlas Mountains of Morocco, where she studies changing agricultural livelihoods, the role of cereal diversity for climate adaptation, and barley landrace diversity. She has published articles in several journals, including the Journal of Ethnobiology and Water Policy. She has also presented her work at several academic conferences. She is originally from northern Vermont and has lived in Mexico, Morocco, and Bhutan. She is fluent in Spanish and Arabic and has limited proficiency in Tashelhit, French, and Portuguese.
