A division of the Knight Institute for Writing in the Disciplines, the English Language Support Office (ELSO) offers a variety of programs to support multilingual U.S. resident and international graduate and professional students as scholars, writers, speakers, professionals, and members of the Cornell community.” Watch this brief orientation video for a quick overview.

ELSO Listserv

The ELSO listserv is used to send multilingual and international graduate and professional students information about ELSO events and programs, as well as other events and programs that may be of interest. To join, email ELSO.

ELSO Canvas Page

The ELSO Canvas site offers a number of resources related to writing and speaking, including handouts developed by ELSO faculty, sample ELSO course syllabi, links to digital resources, and access to Turn It In, so that students can receive feedback on how effectively they have paraphrased. Any Cornell student, staff member, or faculty member may join the ELSO Canvas site.

Fall 2025 ELSO Info Sessions

New to Cornell? Have questions about ELSO programs? You are invited to attend an ELSO Info Session. During these online events, ELSO faculty will provide an overview of ELSO programs and answer your questions.  Zoom links will be provided through the ELSO listserv.
