Sign-up for the Spring 24 Speaking Groups Program!

The ELSO Speaking Group Program (SGP) brings together small groups of international and multilingual graduate students, professional students, and postdocs for weekly discussions about culture, academic interests, and campus life. These groups are led by volunteer facilitators from across the Cornell community. Groups meet weekly during the second half of the semester. All multilingual and international graduate students, professional students, and postdocs are welcome to join.

Participating in a speaking group is a great opportunity to have fun practicing conversational English while meeting other students and postdocs from across Cornell. Each group chooses its own focus. Some groups meet to talk about daily life, while others take walks on campus or play games. Once we have facilitators in place, participants choose the group that best fits their schedule and needs (there will be times available across the week; some groups meet in person and some meet online).

Important dates:

  • Complete the Spring 2024 SGP Participant Registration Form by February 23.
  • Between February 28 and March 4, choose your group (you will be emailed information about this)
  • Plan to start meeting with your group during the week of March 6.

More information can be found at the Speaking Groups Program webpage. Questions may be directed to Michelle Crow (mtc225@cornell.edu).
